At the opening of the new headquarters of Highcare Medical Center, Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah stated that the private sector plays an active role in providing competitive services that contribute to strengthening the healthcare system.

Manama, March 22 (BNA) – His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, commended the active role played by the private sector in providing advanced and competitive medical services that contribute to strengthening the healthcare system in the Kingdom of Bahrain, which is supported by legal and regulatory safeguards, qualified human resources, and a robust infrastructure.

Speaking at the opening of a private medical center, His Excellency said: "Government plans and policies consistently encourage the private sector to invest in the health sector, and to be a distinguished partner complementing the efforts of the public sector in improving public health. As a result of this approach, the total number of private healthcare facilities reached more than 400 by the end of 2021, including hospitals, centers, and clinics."

His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa inaugurated today, Tuesday, the new headquarters of the HighCare Medical Center located in the Al-Sayah area, in the presence of a number of officials and guests. Upon his arrival at the center, His Excellency was received by Dr. Hisham Abdul Wahab Al Sheikh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of HighCare Medical Center, and members of the board.

His Excellency congratulated the chairman and members of the board of directors of HighCare Medical Center on the qualitative leap achieved in the center's journey with its move to its new headquarters and the expansion of its services. He praised the specialized national competencies working to manage and operate the center, wishing the staff success in achieving the desired goals that will contribute, alongside the efforts of other institutions, to transforming the Kingdom of Bahrain into a destination for medical tourism in the region, in implementation of the directions set forth in the National Health Plan. His Excellency expressed his confidence in the progress and development that the healthcare system as a whole will witness with the implementation of the health insurance system next year, which will further enhance the role of private sector healthcare institutions, especially by providing them with the opportunity to offer basic and complementary services in competition with the public sector, and guaranteeing patients' rights, most importantly their right to choose their healthcare provider. The new Haycare Medical Center includes 12 general and specialized medical clinics covering family medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, dentistry, ENT, home care, and employment and occupational health examinations. It also includes a laboratory, a pharmacy, a radiology department, and other medical services.

For his part, Dr. Hisham Abdul Wahab Al Sheikh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Haycare Medical Center, on behalf of himself, the Board of Directors, and all the center's staff, expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa for his gracious presence at the opening of the center's new headquarters.

Dr. Al Sheikh affirmed that the patronage of the Deputy Prime Minister at the opening ceremony of the center's new headquarters is a kind gesture that reflects the government's commitment to the success of the partnership with the private sector in the medical field to develop healthcare services and provides all the center's staff with an incentive to continue working on development and innovation.
